Jervis Bay

On Monday we loaded up Bob's car with camping gear and set off towards Kangaroo Valley, a three hour journey, but we stopped off first at Jervis Bay where we had a picnic and then went to explore the wonderful white sands. What a contrast to the beach at Manly which had been so packed. Here we had to share the sea and sand with about four humans and three dogs. Very crowded!
Elaine again- the car park in Jervis Bay afforded our first proper view of kookaburras. There were two in tha car park busily collecting food for their nesting young in a hollow in a tree. Suddenly, one came up with a very long lizard in its mouth and the next moment it was in the nest for the young ones to devour. We had experince of just how voracious the appetites of Kookaburras are ,further on in our trip but more of that later...
I actually managed a dip in the sea in Jervis Bay, but not a swim. I left that to the other three. It was too cold for me, despite the scorching heat on the sand. Give me the water in Barbados any day! I enjoyed the beauty of the white sand and clear sea, however. It was soon time to move on to our destination which was Kangaroo Valley.
